Prayers for Hurricane Victims
Top priority this week…..pray for those affected by Hurricane Florence on the eastern coast of the United States and also pray for those who are first responders and rescue workers. So much rain, wind, and water is now devastating property at this moment. Our hearts go out to those who are suffering because of Florence.
Dear Lord, Rebuke the wind and raging waters. Allow the storm to subside. Bring calm, comfort, and help to those who are affected by the hurricane. In your powerful name, Amen
Calming the Storm
One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters: the storm subsided, and all was calm. Luke 8:22-24
Sometimes He Calms the Storm
In the middle of our storms in life, sometimes God calms the winds of our suffering….but sometimes He just calms us. He may allow us to place our head on His chest, so we can learn how to breathe again. Or He’ll take our hand and lead us through the deep waters until we’re safe again. He even reminds us in Isaiah 43: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.“
Help is on the Way
Disaster response is on the way in the form of the Red Cross and other agencies. I’ve been going on Lutheran Church Charities website to see if they may also deploy their disaster response teams to the Carolinas. You, too, can follow the help that they provide by CLICKING HERE
May God continue to watch over this part of our nation!
Thank you for joining me in prayer for all that are impacted by Hurricane Florence,
